"Lomax" or "The Adventures of Lomax" is such a fun underrated as hell 2d side-scroller, being lemmings spin-off, I’m not the biggest fan of the franchise and played very little of lemmings 1&2 and xmas specials on my 486 computer back in the day. This game however is more akin to Rayman then lemmings, side-scrolling platformer, similar story, visually stunning, fluid animation and european-slavic fairy tales vibe to it. The developer Psygnosis was huge during the amiga era and did farily well during the 90's PS1 era as well.
just to clarify yes this game doesn't work on modern computers, best use PCem emulator running win 95/98 or get the PSX version (emulating that PSX version is a lot easier and simpler then pc version).
in my case I’m running it on my P4 socket 478 pc running win 98 se, and it works flawlessly however the version on "my abandonware" is missing the CD redbook audio files, which means only sound effects and ambience but no music. On "Games Nostalgia" site there's the windows version complete with CD files as well.

If I remember correctly, this is one of those games that won't work too well on modern systems. Your best bet is to run it on an emulated Windows 95 or 98 system (through PCEmu for example). Just make sure to set the display color depth to 8-bit (256 colors) or 16-bit (65536) as Markthemorose mentioned.
Or the PSX version works too. :P

I think I should have said 65 thousand colours, not 16 million, and the abandonware guide link is below, not above the comments!

ARTUR: Technically, this is referring to the number of colours used in the desktop. I don't have Windows 10, but you could try reducing the graphics mode to 256 colours, or 16 million, if the option still exists. I think it more likely that the game will still refuse to run, but it's an easy thing to try. You can set the graphics mode back to whatever it was after trying the game. An alternative would be to try the PCem emulator, but there are a lot of steps. Try the link above the comments for help: abandonware guide.

When I try to run the game, it shows a screen with the following: "Lomax will only run on a 8 or 16 bit desktop". I'm using Windows 10, is there anything that I can do to solve this?
